Time: 2:00 pm
Venue: Fair Oak Village Hall

Speaker: Dave Dell

BLETCHLEY PARK was the home of Britain’s codebreakers during the Second World War. Dave’s presentation centres around the leading codebreaker, a man called Dillwyn Knox, known to everyone as “Dilly”, and his team of ladies who did much of their work in The Cottage by the Bletchley Mansion.

Hollywood has ensured that the name associated with the codebreaking activities at Bletchley Park will forevermore be that of Alan Turing but Knox, who had been breaking codes at The Admiralty during the First World War, was Chief Codebreaker at Bletchley and was one of the few to successfully transfer from the manual ciphers of the Great War to the mechanical ciphers of World War Two.
