You think you know Eastleigh, Winchester or Southampton? Are you sure?
What was life like for the inhabitants of these places hundreds of years ago? Who or what shaped the way the people and towns developed over the centuries
Join our group and find out the hidden history of the many places and famous people in our area of Hampshire. As a group we enjoy searching out the interesting facts to share with each other. This can, usually, be done via computers, local libraries, museums and visitor centres and we supplement our research with visits to specific places and by joining guided walking tours.
We are currently researching the rich history of Winchester City from Iron Age settlement, the Roman’s followed by the famous Anglo-Saxon King Alfred and, of course, William the Conquerer’s beautiful Cathedral. We have recently been doing our own self guided walking tours of the city with more to come. There is so much still to discover come and join us.

We meet on the first Monday of each month from 14.00hrs to 16.00hrs in the Grace Mears Room, Fair Oak Village Hall.
